In 1994, Brisbane Colour Bureau began as a photocopying bureau to the business world in Brisbane CBD.  In those early days, digital colour copiers were beginning to emerge as a new form of document production.  Customers then had the choice of colour to enhance their image.

Colour printing from a computer file soon followed with Brisbane Colour Bureau installing the first Cyclone Colour RIP (raster image processor), a very powerful Unix based print software device which enabled the printing of up to A3 colour files.  In those days, colour printing was fast at 5 colour A4 prints per minute.  Because of this unique software, the colour copier was a printer and a scanner all in one.

By 1997, Brisbane Colour Bureau became the first to install a digital plan printer from a Dutch company called Oce.  This was a major milestone in plan reproduction for Brisbane .  Quality was superior compared with conventional plan printers.

Always an eye on quality, Brisbane Colour Bureau also was the first to introduce colour management to its printing capabilities.  Measuring devices such as a densitomer and colour spectrophotometer were purchased to ensure colour consistency and maximum colour gamut during printing.  These devices were later used to create icc printing and scanning profiles for corporations who sought quality in their own print rooms.

In 2000, scanning of documents at 52 pages a minute was another milestone.  Again an Oce machine was acquired which provided very fast and superior quality scans in black and white.  Additional scanners were purchased to meet the growing demand for fast, proficient and quality scanning both colour and black and white.

Brisbane Colour Bureau has evolved from just offering reproduction services to a bureau highly specialised in document scanning both black and white and colour from A4 through to A0 and oversize.  Our maximum scanning width is 1.27 metres or 50 inches.

Today there is a need for efficient storage of archived documents electronically.  Yet again Brisbane Colour Bureau has progressed with facilities to create searchable scanned documents.  Businesses more than ever need to find information readily and distribute it in a timely fashion.

As a bureau since 1994, there has been a digital evolution which continues still into the future and which has changed the way Brisbane Colour Bureau serves the wide business community.
