What we can copy: |

Brisbane Colour Bureau pioneered wide format copying beyond the A1 paper size. This process is possible by two pieces of specialised equipment and software—scanner and printer. The first step to wide format copying is scanning using specialised software which has calibrated colour in order to maintain calibrated printing. During this stage, we can crop, size, and rotate. Originals up to 15mm thick can be copied, although the process is a lot more tedious. The quality of the original determines the quality of the copy. If the original is a flat sheet of paper then we have the perfect copy. However, originals can be laminated, creased, board mounted, torn, irregular shape, and some even come as a photo collage with several photos pasted onto to a board. It is these originals which require special attention and can be difficult to scan. Once the scanner is feeding the original through, the specialised software creates the copy image which is sent to the printer. For those customers who need to know how their originals are being handled, we emphasise that originals which do not have a flat surface and flat back do not always scan correctly, eg. oil paintings with irregular thickness of paint will possibly cause problems for copying. We also need to be careful with originals which have charcoal or crayon or air brush colours on the surface. The tiny dust particles will create skid marks along the scanner glass and this appears on the copy. At Brisbane Colour Bureau, we advise clients whether there are any issues and assist in every possible way to generate the best quality copy. All originals go through a pull-feed process which means the original’s leading edge is grabbed by a series of rubber rollers. That is why we need flat surfaces on the original. |
